The Carl and Betty Erskine Society
Our planned giving society is named in honor of the Erskines, natives of Anderson who have had an immeasurable impact on our movement. Carl Erskine is best known as a pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers. The last of the famed “Boys of Summer” team, Carl was a teammate and friend of Jackie Robinson, the first Black player in Major League Baseball. However, the most important role of Carl and Betty’s lives is as parents to a son with Down syndrome, which led to their connection with Special Olympics Indiana.
