Experience “The Carl Erskine Story” on the Big Screen!

“The Best We’ve Got”

Special Olympics Indiana has teamed up with award-winning Indiana filmmaker Ted Green to share the life story of Indiana icon and MLB great Carl Erskine, who has had an immeasurable impact on the Special Olympics movement.

“The Best We’ve Got: The Carl Erskine Story” highlights Carl’s life as an advocate of acceptance and inclusion, his storied baseball career and his important role as a parent to a son with Down syndrome.

Since its debut in August 2022 in Carl’s hometown of Anderson, this inspiring film has been seen by tens of thousands of people in theaters across Indiana. View the calendar below to find upcoming screenings in your area, or fill out the interest form below to learn how you can host a screening of “The Best We’ve Got” in your community.

The film is also currently airing on PBS stations statewide. Check your local listings for dates and times. 

Bring “The Best We’ve Got” To Your Community

Help spread Carl Erskine’s message of friendship, inclusion, and servant leadership by partnering with a Unified Champions School in your county and hosting a screening of “The Best We’ve Got: The Carl Erskine Story.” This can be hosted in the school cafeteria or auditorium and will be emceed by comedian, and great friend of Special Olympics Indiana, Craig Tornquist. All screenings hosted in partnership with a Unified Champions School will be free of charge for attendees or local programs. If you don’t know what schools in your county have a Unified Champions School program, contact Stephanie Manner. Screenings that are done in partnership with Unified Champion Schools (UCS) schools are hosted by Craig Tornquist, Master of Ceremonies.

To host a local screening, complete the following online form and payment at least 30 days before your preferred screening date. Once your screening date is approved, an invoice will be sent to you via email for completion.
