Bequests are the most common type of planned gift. With the help of an advisor, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift be made to Special Olympics Indiana as part of your estate plan. Your estate receives a charitable deduction for the full amount given, so your heirs pay no estate tax on the gift.

How you include a gift in your will or revocable trust depends on what you want to accomplish, and what you want to give to Special Olympics Indiana.

Here are some options and sample language:

Give a percentage of your estate: “I give ____% of the net value of my estate as finally determined for federal estate tax purposes to Special Olympics Indiana.”

Give a percentage of the residue of your estate (the amount left after specific bequests have been given to individuals and organizations): “I give, devise, and bequeath______% of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate to Special Olympics Indiana, for its unrestricted use and purpose.”

Give a specific dollar amount or item of property: “I give Special Olympics Indiana $________.” or “I give Special Olympics Indiana ____shares of _________ stock.”
