Torch Run is May 30 in Indianapolis, Terre Haute

Officers from throughout Indiana will come together Friday, May 30, in Indianapolis and Terre Haute for the annual Special Olympics Indiana Law Enforcement Torch Run, carrying the Flame of Hope and signifying the start of the 2025 Summer Games.
The Indianapolis event begins with a ceremony at 9 a.m. at Bicentennial Unity Plaza followed by a 3-mile run that includes a stop at Monument Circle for a photo opportunity. The 3-mile Terre Haute run begins at noon at Indiana State University’s Hulman Center and takes participants throughout the city and campus.
Law enforcement officers run alongside Special Olympics Indiana athletes to create a shared experience and celebrate the transformative power of acceptance, diversity and inclusion. The torches are then used to ignite the cauldron during the 2025 Summer Games Opening Ceremony on Thursday, June 6, at Indiana State University.
Community leaders, residents and businesses along the courses are invited to come out to cheer and support participants.
Started in 1981 in Wichita, Kan., the Law Enforcement Torch Run has grown into the largest international grassroots supporter for Special Olympics, promoting awareness and raising tens of millions of dollars each year. Funds raised by the events in Indianapolis and Terre Haute help Special Olympics Indiana provide sports training and competition to people with intellectual disabilities at no cost to the participants.
