Tommy Sliva Wins Silver in Super G at Special Olympics World Winter Games

Tommy Sliva competes in the downhill skiing event at the World Winter Games.

Tommy Sliva won a Silver Medal on Thursday in the Novice Super G division of the 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Torino, Italy.

Sliva, 34, completed the course in 47.43 seconds to earn runner-up status. The Games include athletes from 102 countries.

An athlete with the Special Olympics Indiana Marion County-Northeast program, Sliva was selected by Special Olympics North America to represent both the United States and Indiana on the global stage in Alpine skiing.

Taking place March 8-15, the World Winter Games are the largest inclusive winter sports event in the world. The event brings together thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities to compete in events such as alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, figure skating, snowboarding and snowshoeing. It includes nine days of exciting and inspiring competitions by athletes and for athletes.
