Special Olympics Indiana Summer Games Coming to Terre Haute on June 6-8

Special Olympics Indiana’s annual Summer Games return to Terre Haute on June 6-8, bringing more than 5,000 athletes, Unified partners, coaches, volunteers and spectators to the campuses of Indiana State University and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Offering three days of competition, achievement, friendship, fun and ceremony, the 2025 Summer Games will feature 2,400 athletes participating in seven Olympic-type sports: bocce, bowling, cycling, powerlifting, swimming, track and field and volleyball.
Special Olympics athletes and Unified partners represent 60 delegations from across the state, putting their talents on display in front of huge crowds of cheering fans.
“For the athletes, these three days are a chance to reunite with friends and celebrate their sports through competition and camaraderie,” Special Olympics Indiana President and CEO Jeff Mohler said. “We are proud to host these athletes and look forward to seeing all their hard work these past few months pay off.”
Alongside the competition, the 2025 Summer Games offer a series of events and opportunities for athletes and their families. Opening Ceremonies features a parade of athletes, live entertainment and the lighting of the cauldron to kick off the weekend at Indiana State’s Hulman Center. Olympic Town presented by Duke Energy offers a variety of activities, souvenirs, entertainment and games. This year’s Olympic Town will include pickleball instruction and demonstrations.
Summer Games also promotes nutrition and habits that help athletes improve their everyday health and fitness. The Healthy Athletes® area includes free screenings and instruction on Strong Minds, Healthy Hearing, Opening Eyes, Special Smiles, Fun Fitness, Fit Feet and general health promotion.
Volunteers are still needed to support all aspects of the Games. Visit SOIndiana.org/Summer-Games to learn more and register.
