Soccer Clinic Draws Athletes From Nearly a Dozen Programs

Special Olympics Indiana athletes got their kicks on Sunday, May 18, at South-Central Soccer Club in Center Grove.

In all, 32 athletes and 14 Unified partners from 10 county programs learned warmup exercises before performing individual and team drills in bolstering their skills. Then the group had an opportunity to scrimmage in 7-on-7 games.

The clinic was designed to teach athletes and partners how to effectively improve their abilities and take those lessons back to their county programs. The end goal is bolstering all Special Olympics soccer programs across Indiana.

Team Indiana staff members also used the clinic as an opportunity to observe players and evaluate them to potentially be selected for the 2026 USA Games in Minneapolis.

If you are interested in learning more about developing a soccer program or starting soccer at your county level, reach out to Kevin Aders  for information.
