Sliva, Myers Head to World Winter Games in Turin

A crowd of family, friends and fans at Indianapolis International Airport cheered Tommy Sliva and his coach Duncan Myers as they departed Wednesday for Turin, Italy. Sliva will compete in the 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games, and Duncan is a member of the U.S. coaching staff.
An athlete with the Marion County-Northeast program for 22 years, Sliva was selected by Special Olympics North America to represent both the United States and Indiana on the global stage in Alpine skiing.
Taking place March 8-15, the World Winter Games are the largest inclusive winter sports event in the world. The event brings together thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities to compete in events such as alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, figure skating, snowboarding and snowshoeing. It includes nine days of exciting and inspiring competitions by athletes and for athletes.
The Opening Ceremony is Saturday with practice on Sunday and competition beginning Tuesday. Follow Sliva’s story here and on Facebook for results and photos.
