The Special Olympics Indiana Polar Plunge series wraps up this weekend at Eagle Creek in Indianapolis. The 2024 event schedule included 19 stops this year, including Feb. 16-17 in Borden.

The final Polar Plunges of the 2024 schedule are Friday, March 1, and Saturday, March 2, at Eagle Creek Beach in Indianapolis. Friday’s event begins at 10:30 a.m. and features students from area high schools. On Saturday, an early-bird plunge is at 9 a.m. with another plunge at 11 a.m.

These bucket-list events challenge individuals and teams to make a difference to the lives of the 18,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities around the state by taking an icy dip to demonstrate their commitment to the cause.

More than 3,000 individuals take the plunge in a typical year. Each Plunger works to raise at least $99 in donations. The Super Plunger program recognizes the bravest souls with the warmest hearts. Those who raise $4,000 or more and plunge at two sites receive VIP treatment at the final event of the season as well as the top fundraising prize — a baseball-themed Polar Plunge jersey available exclusively for Super Plungers.

The Virtual Plunge program is perfect for anyone who wants to join in the fun without getting their feet wet. Virtual Plungers are eligible to receive the same fundraising prizes, and on Plunge day, they can stay warm and dry while cheering on Polar Plunge participants from the shore.

The 2024 Polar Plunge series is presented by the Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics Indiana and Coca-Cola Consolidated. Thank you to our Gold level sponsors: Coca-Cola Consolidated, Duke Energy, Steel Dynamics and Taft.
