2021 Summer Games Torch Run Set For June 4th
Celebrating 40 years of life-changing public service in 2021, the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics is much more than a run, engaging law enforcement worldwide as champions for acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities through a wide variety of year-round events and other activities. Known as Guardians of the Flame, thousands of dedicated and compassionate law enforcement members carry the “Flame of Hope” for Special Olympics athletes each year, symbolizing courage and celebration of diversity uniting communities around the globe.
In advance of Special Olympics Indiana’s 2021 Summer Games, the Indiana LETR invites officers and agencies across the state to come together in support of local athletes by taking part in the 2021 Summer Games Torch Run, to be held at Indiana State University on Friday, June 4.
Traditionally culminating with the lighting of the cauldron during Opening Ceremonies (which will take place virtually this year), the 2021 Summer Games Torch Run instead includes a celebratory luncheon and an opportunity to record messages of support and encouragement for all those competing in our first in-person Summer Games in two years.
This year and every year, the LETR is changing the future for people with intellectual disabilities. Register or donate today to help us light the way for acceptance and inclusion in your community and beyond!
