Job Opening: Director of Programs
Special Olympics Indiana serves more than 14,000 Hoosiers with intellectual disabilities through a variety of programs, including over 20 sports, two school-based initiatives, a health and fitness program, and an athlete leadership program.
We are looking for a new Director of Programs, who will join our leadership team. The Director’s responsibility will be the ongoing growth of our programs related to schools and health and fitness. In addition, the Director will lend support and guidance to our local teams, who directly work with our athletes in sports training and competition.
To be successful, our new Director must have a Bachelor’s degree, demonstrated abilities in leadership, experience in supervising staff and volunteers, experience in sports and volunteer management, be a self-starter, be innovative, and think strategically while implementing detailed action plans.
Our ideal candidate would have experience in Special Olympics or experience in education-based athletic administration.
The position requires frequent evening and weekend work, frequent in-state travel, and occasional out-of-state travel. Physical work is entailed when setting up for sports and program events, including venue set-up and tear-down.
