Officers and staff from law enforcement agencies around the state will volunteer their time this weekend to raise money for Special Olympics Indiana by collecting special tips during Red Robin’s 11th annual Tip-A-Cop® fundraising event. The fundraiser will take place Saturday, Oct. 22 at more than 400 restaurants in 39 states, with all 12 locations in Indiana participating during the lunch (11 a.m. – 3 p.m.) and dinner (4 p.m. – 8 p.m.) shifts.
“Red Robin is proud to continue our annual Tip-A-Cop® tradition and generate valuable awareness for Special Olympics programs in our communities,” said Jonathan Muhtar, Red Robin’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer, noting that more than $600,000 was raised during last year’s event.
Tip-A-Cop® is part of Special Olympics’ Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) campaign, involving more than 100,000 law enforcement members worldwide. As the largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle for Special Olympics, LETR has raised a cumulative sum of over $600 million since its inception in 1981—including $3.3 million from Red Robin Tip-A-Cop® events.
