FLAG FOOTBALL: PURDUE vs. INDIANA
The Unified Sports Rivalry Series, sponsored nationally by ESPN, was created to connect Unified Sports and Special Olympics athletes to high profile collegiate rivalry sports games.
With endless amounts of excitement and competition surrounding these college rivalries, Special Olympics Indiana thought it was only fitting to host a flag football game one week before the Indiana University and Purdue University football teams faced off for the Old Oaken Bucket.
Our first annual event was a success!
Thank you to Indiana University for hosting and Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity for partnering with us. With the help of generous donors, over $3,300 was raised in support of Special Olympics. Your funds help provide year-round sports training and athletic competition for more than 12,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
Indiana University was our flag football champion with a winning score of 29 to 12. Purdue University was named the 2016 top fundraiser, bringing in more than $1,500 in support of Special Olympics. Other highlights included a halftime performance by the fabulous cheerleaders from Gibson and Hamilton Counties and music provided by the Kappa Kappa Psi pep band.
